'What fresh hell is this?' we might ask. The sky is not falling..or at least it isn't yet..but the earth is sinking. Lost amongst the myriad of strange and disastrous events that we've seen take place on the planet lately is a phenomenon which hasn't been receiving it's due attention. All over the world..giant, gaping holes are opening up in the earth...some having a confoundedly perfect, circular shape...great abysses which threaten to swallow up homes, roads and people.

This might sound a bit wild and made up..but the facts are, it's happening...everywhere. When looking into all the locations that giant sink holes have taken place..i couldn't even complete a list for the number of them that can be found and the time it would take to round them all up..but here are some that i've complied:

In Guatemala, we have what looks like a man-made well shaft...but this hole opened up in the earth without anyone lifting a shovel...

Following the strange sinkhole in Guatemala there began a plague of sinkholes across China...35 massive, gaping holes from April until the middle of this month...

In Canada on the Trans-Canada Highway this hole opened up across two traffic lanes. It will require 50 trucks hauling gravel to the site to repair the road...

In Chattanooga Tennessee on Interstate 24 east, this sinkhole appeared over a 40 by 18 foot wide area and is 25 feet deep...

In the area of the Dead Sea...sinkholes are a serious problem..in fact so serious, people are afraid to walk or live in the area. Every day new sinkholes appear..some large enough to take down entire farmsteads...

Derry PA has a plague of sinkholes on their hands which the residents are becoming very concerned over..and placing blame on the township's water system, the situation threatens to cause huge losses in property...

The very street which is nearest to where i am sitting has had a sinkhole problem which seemingly will not go away...the repair crew has been at the site three times in the last few weeks attempting to repair it so that it will not reoccur. An acquaintance who lives in a township some 30 miles from where i am reports that a sinkhole is threatening to claim a large portion of her front yard.

Something has upset a fragile balance of energies within the earth, something which is causing an implosion of sorts of the earth's surface in areas. Remembering the Pandora's box of repercussions which was opened when someone decided to drill into a deep oil and methane reserve in the Gulf Coast...a reserve which stretches far up into the North American continent, might we not be seeing the results of the ill-advised tampering with a delicate pressure system that was not meant to be tampered with?

Interestingly, i had earlier written on the Gulf Coast spill and the possible ( and possibly prophetic) implications of it, pointing out that if this event implied a certain prophetic fulfillment in Revelation concerning the sea becoming blood, that a number of other prophecies would maybe have to precede it in order for it to qualify. Now then...this would be one of those prophecies...

"I looked when He opened the sixth seal and behold, there was a great earthquake and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair and the moon became like blood. And the stars of the sky fell to the earth, as a fig tree drops its late figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind. Then the sky receded as a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved out of its place".- Revelation 6:12-14

It occurs to me that with such a phenomenon of sinkholes opening up all over the globe...if any very massive earthquake were to take place in the near future, we might very well see mountains being swallowed up and islands sinking. I make no claim to know that this is surely the case, but it seems far from impossible that there is a perfect storm of apocalyptic possibility convening over the wreckage which has been strewn in the Gulf of Mexico.

Car disappears into massive Tampa sinkhole

Tampa, Florida -- A car swallowed up by a sinkhole near the University of South Florida on Sunday has now disappeared underground as the sinkhole continues to grow, threatening a parking lot and nearby condominium complex.
The hole that opened up off 50th Street east of USF's main campus is now estimated around 25 feet wide. Code enforcement officials say they can see down about 17 feet, but can't be sure how deep the sinkhole actually is, since the car has already disappeared underground.

"It's somewhere beneath there, but we're not sure how far," said code enforcement employee Robin Caton.
Experts fear it may be too late to remove the car from the hole, saying further digging and vibration from machinery might only make the hole bigger and further threaten nearby structures.
The Department of Environmental Protection will be out to direct the property owner on what to do next. Some fear gasoline and oil from the car's tanks might leak out, polluting the local ground water.
"The car obviously has 10 or 15 gallons of gas, and the gas would be the biggest problem. That has a very good chance of ending up in the Florida Aquifer," said USF Geology professor Dr. Mark Stewart.
This isn't the first time cars have been swallowed up by the earth. Back in 1981, a 100-foot deep sinkhole opened up in Winter Park near Orlando, swallowing up a home and part of a import car dealership. A massive helicopter was called in to try and lift some of the expensive cars out of the hole, but the vehicles continued sinking and were never seen again.

yes, it could actually have something to do with this. the reserve which was breached was under tremendous pressure and it has been a practice before this to even out pressure using water when this reserve was drilled into from land.

(Aug. 23) -- The earth must be craving a bit more than a Sonic Burger.
On Saturday, a combination of torrential rains and 25-year-old rusty pipes in Cleveland, Ga., opened what's arguably a sinkhole beneath the tiny town's only Sonic Drive-In restaurant and next-door car wash, nearly swallowing both buildings whole before customers and employees could escape.
"It was frightening," said Tammy Moore, the Sonic's manager, in an exclusive interview with AOL News Surge Desk. "We were all here when the rain started coming down and we had to act pretty fast. The trash can outside started sinking, I told my employees and the customers we had to get off the lot. Then the police came and roped the whole site off. Within in an hour, the ground had totally broken apart."
Surge Desk reached Moore after she and a few others had been granted limited clearance by safety officials to enter the building and remove equipment, perishable items from the fridge, and any remaining valuables.
She estimates that the gaping sinkhole -- more like a chasm, really -- now measures in about 200 ft. long, 20 ft. wide, and 20 ft. deep. Meanwhile, the White County Office of Emergency Management has taken issue with the term "sinkhole," instead classifying the resulting destruction as a "wash out," according to director David Murphy.

Sinkholes

Sinkholes are common where the rock below the land surface is limestone, carbonate rock, salt beds, or rocks that can naturally be dissolved by ground water circulating through them. As the rock dissolves, spaces and caverns develop underground. Sinkholes are dramatic because the land usually stays intact for a while until the underground spaces just get too big. If there is not enough support for the land above the spaces then a sudden collapse of the land surface can occur. These collapses can be small, as this picture shows, or they can be huge and can occur where a house or road is on top.

The most damage from sinkholes tends to occur in Florida, Texas, Alabama, Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Pennsylvania. The picture to the left shows a sinkhole that quickly opened up in Florida, apparently eating a swimming pool, some roadway, and buildings.
Areas prone to collapse sinkholes
The map below shows areas of the United States where certain rock types that are susceptible to dissolution in water occur. In these areas the formation of underground cavities can form and catastrophic sinkholes can happen. These rock types are evaporites (salt, gypsum, and anhydrite) and carbonates (limestone and dolomite). Evaporite rocks underlie about 35 to 40 percent of the United States, though in many areas they are buried at great depths.

Sinkholes can be human-induced
New sinkholes have been correlated to land-use practices, especially from ground-water pumping and from construction and development practices. Sinkholes can also form when natural water-drainage patterns are changed and new water-diversion systems are developed. Some sinkholes form when the land surface is changed, such as when industrial and runoff-storage ponds are created. The substantial weight of the new material can trigger an underground collapse of supporting material, thus causing a sinkhole.

The overburden sediments that cover buried cavities in the aquifer systems are delicately balanced by ground-water fluid pressure. The water below ground is actually helping to keep the surface soil in place. Groundwater pumping for urban water supply and for irrigation can produce new sinkholes In sinkhole-prone areas. If pumping results in a lowering of ground-water levels, then underground structural failure, and thus, sinkholes, can occur.

How To Fix a Giant Sinkhole
The cement method vs. the graded-filter technique.

A sinkhole, 65 feet across and 100 feet deep, swallowed up a small factory and some telephone poles in Guatemala City last weekend. Police have been stationed around the hole to prevent bystanders from falling in, and those who live nearby are staying elsewhere for the time being. How do you fill a massive sinkhole in the middle of a major urban area?

With cement or rocks. Sinkholes develop when water flows through pores in bedrock and gradually enlarges them. When these subterranean cavities get big enough, the ground above collapses and fills them in. Guatemala City's last major crater, which opened in 2007, dropped three houses 330 feet below the city's streets. The government spent $2.7 million redirecting sewer pipes around the area and filling the hole with cement. This week's sinkhole will probably be filled the same way.

It's not clear whether cement is the best option, however. A 6,500-cubic-foot wad of concrete may serve to concentrate water runoff in other areas, leading to more sinkholes. Many engineers prefer the graded-filter technique, in which the hole is filled with a layer of boulders, then a layer of smaller rocks, and, finally, a layer of gravel. This fills the hole, more or less, while permitting water to drain through the area.

No matter what is used to fill the crater, more sinkholes are on the way. Guatemala City's location and leaky sewage system make it particularly prone to these events. The capital lies downhill from seven major volcanoes, two of which are active members of the Pacific Ring of Fire. For hundreds of thousands of years, the gargantuan Amatitlan Caldera dumped volcanic ash on the ground where the city now sits. As a result, the local bedrock consists mostly of loose volcanic pumice. (Many cities sit atop volcanic deposits, but the ash from Amatitlan has not had the time or the appropriate pressure and temperature conditions to compress into a solid, reliable foundation.)

Large sinkholes sometimes open up in North America, too. While the process is similar, the geology is different. The most sinkhole-prone parts of the U.S. consist of limestone and dolomite bedrock rather than volcanic ash. The easily-eroded materials are responsible for natural wonders like New Mexico's Carlsbad Caverns, but they can also lead to a terrific collapse. Florida and Kentucky are the most vulnerable states. In 1994, a 15-story-deep sinkhole opened near Mulberry, Fla.

Cover-collapse sinkholes—the dramatic and instantaneous events that swallow up unsuspecting victims—are relatively rare. Most sinkholes happen slowly over time, and bottom out at a foot or two. As the bedrock erodes, the ground begins to subside at an imperceptible rate. When the soil finally lowers to the level of the groundwater, there is a small, visible drop.

Sinkholes have always occured and normal explanations like water erosion etc make sense particularly in regions where there might be a great deal of cavernous rock below them. What we are seeing now, though might go beyond "normal" and normal explanations. Something is destabilizing in the geology and perhaps the atmosphere of earth...the cause of that can be speculated on but we sure have seen more than an average amount of sinkholes, volcanic activity and earthquakes in this past year. Whether or not all three of these things are from one root cause i don't know..but something is going on.

Some sinkholes have been directly attributed to oil drilling, like this one:

"U.S. 285 south subject to sinkhole 1,000 feet ahead," reads a bright yellow sign along the stretch of highway heading through Carlsbad, N.M.

Normally a motorist driving through the area might not find a sign like that unusual. The city is, after all, home to Carlsbad Caverns National Park, a network of some of the largest natural caverns in North America. But on this occasion, the sign's sharp colors make the message clear: what's happening in Carlsbad is not natural.

In fact, the massive sinkhole currently running through the center of town was created by the oil industry. As MSNBC reports, it was formed over three decades as oil field service companies pumped fresh water into a salt layer more than 400 feet below the surface and extracted several million barrels of brine to help with drilling.

If it collapses, the unnatural cavern is likely to take with it a church, a highway, several businesses and a trailer park. Massive fissures currently cleave through town, and one business owner has said that structural cracks have even formed in his store.

"It would be like a bomb going off in the middle of town," said Jim Griswold, a hydrologist with the New Mexico Oil Conservation Division. The problem is so severe that the Eddy County Commission declared a state of emergency last Thursday, and they hope that state and federal funds will arrive in time to fill the cavern before it collapses.

Alarms placed to monitor the sinkhole should give authorities at least a few hours' warning to evacuate Carlsbad's residents in the event of an imminent cave-in, but the costs of the sinkhole might already be inevitable. Damages to local crops could exceed $100 million.

In regular industry fashion, the oil field service company that owns the site where the cavern is located, I&W Trucking, contends the state is overreacting. But if anyone knows how to judge the dangers of a giant hole in the ground, it's the 26,000 residents of Carlsbad, N.M.

"It's a nightmare," said Ellie Fletcher, a local resident. "I would like to forget about it, but I can't forget about it because it's right there.""

Here's something else to consider...there are underground city complexes which rival the amount of space taken up by cities on the surface of the Earth. They use massive boring machines which drill out the rock leaving a glasslike finish on the walls of the tunnels they make. This boring through bedrock under the Earth obviously has a potential to cause serious problems to the stability of the surface.

Some testimony from Phil Shneider, an ex government employee who was killed after coming out with classified information:

At least this amount is used in black programmes, like those concerned with deep underground military bases. Presently, there are 129 deep underground military bases in the United States."

"They have been building these 129 bases day and night, unceasingly, since the early 1940's. Some of them were built even earlier than that. These bases are basically large cities underground connected by high-speed magneto-leviton trains that have speeds up to Mach 2. Several books have been written about this activity. Al Bielek has my only copy of one of them.Richard Souder, a Ph-D architect, has risked his life by talking about this. He worked with a number of government agencies on deep underground military bases. In around where you live in Idaho, there are 11 of them." "The average depth of these bases is over a mile and they again are basically whole cities underground. They are all between 2.66 and 4.25 cubic miles in size. They have laser drilling machines that can drill a tunnel seven miles long in one day. The Black Projects sidestep the authority of Congress, which as we know is illegal. Right now, the New World Order is depending on these bases. If I had known at the time I was working on them, that the NWO was involved, I would not have done it. I was lied to rather extensively.""
