One can certainly see, in this example, a disconnect between the words being said and the comprehension level of those words in the person saying them. She simply can not comprehend that her beliefs point to selective murder on the basis of convenience.
She searches amongst a set of selected scripts that she has heard from media and political leaders on the matter, attempting to regurgitate one that fits what she is being asked. When the questioning pushes her beyond what she has learned to say about the matter, her own reasoning skills don't kick in, they give up, because she has never learned how to exersize them.
The expression of confusion and response of "it doesn't make sense" is not unlike the way a computer responds when it has no program in place that can apply to the input given. It isn't a lack of sense that is coming from the input, but rather a lack of ability to process sense (which a machine has an excuse for and a person does not.)
Too many human beings behaving like cheap PCs.
cheap PCs tend to implode from even a modest amount of malware.. dogmatic parrots will see the truth as malware, its messengers as spyware and reality as a virus.. the hard drive will crash if backed into a corner where logic points the finger at self.. a real computing tragedy.
even a computer will admit one of its own parts was to blame for a fatal error, people aren't always so smart.
after the crash, if a PC is good, it will defragment the files and upgrade the memory and processing speed.. probably not the usual event, but always amazing when the rare recovery takes place.
