Disappearing contractions?
April 30 2010 near 4 pm est a 5.0 magnitude struck Napa Valley. The anchor on Fox News reported this quake and the USGS site had it shown.

By 4:30 est, the USGS site had no record of this quake to be found. I sent them an email questioning their deletion. A 5.0 quake is felt. It isn't a little 2.5 that barely rattles the dishes. This isn't the first time I have noticed this. Curious to see what kind of reply i receive.

A magnitude 5.0 earthquake just struck seven miles N.E. of Napa ,California
The temblor had a depth of 3 miles and some say it was felt in San Fransisco. Others dispute that.

Napa is best known for its vineyards and wineries. No damage or injury reports at this time.

Update: Earthquake didn’t happen
NAPA — The USGS sent out an alert of a 5.0 earthquake hitting the Napa area of northern California on Friday. It turns out a quake never hit.
This is the latest in a series of reported quakes that the USGS sent out alerts on that never happened, forcing them to retract them later.
Wow—just wow. Not to mention OOOOPS!!!!!!

USGS.

This was a real, but very small (M<1) earthquake near the Geysers. A
malfunctioning analog station near Lassen had a bogus pick that associated
with the Geysers event, and the Lassen station had a large coda duration
that resulting in the M5. It was deleted a few minutes after the message
was issued.
