In scripture is contained what could be called hyperdimensional truth. Most are taught the contents of the bible in isolated pieces, each event, prophecy and commandment explained as its own disconnected component, either interpreted as a purely concrete or purely abstract. The Word of YHWH, however, presents nothing in isolation. Since all laws defined by Him are present in all things at all times. Causes and effects can be shown to present themselves the same way in the same themes over and over. Truth communicated biblically in one event extends far backward and forward from that one event and connects infinitely to every other law upholding creation.

Beginning with one theme presented in scripture; baptism, it is possible to spend years, decades, even a life time and more, revealing all that it means, why it does and to what other themes it has direct connection to. Though it would be impossible to show that here, it can be demonstrated in a small fraction of the whole.

All are aware of what baptism is - a full body immersion in water done as a sign of obedience in following Messiah. It shows in a symbolic way a cleansing by death to an old nature as one is lowered beneath water, and then a restoration to new life, as one is brought back up from the water. The symbol does not stand alone though, and if it did, it would make little sense. It must re-enact a fundamental truth of sin, death, cleansing and new life or else any set of ritualistic motions would be just as good. Catholicism practices infant baptism by sprinkling of water and yet that is by no means the biblical example given of what baptism is. There is a real set of criteria which baptism must be which is based on a solid foundation of truth that extends beyond just getting a body wet.

This begins with a man called "The Descent". That is the literal way to say the name of an early patriarch who lived before the flood named Yered (Jared). In his day, the descent of the rebel faction of Watchers occurred and they descended upon the summit of Mt. Hermon. They came in, introducing physical corruption to a creation which was already spiritually corrupted by the army of Satan.

When the flood came upon the Earth, it cleansed. It wiped from its surface the physical corruptions of creation which had been done in it. The survivors of the dry ground existed in one small ark carrying a man, his family and the preserved animal life with them. In this event, the Earth underwent water baptism. It was a physical solution to a physical problem and yet also a foreshadowing of a final solution to a deeper, spiritual problem.

Hebrews, of which stock came the twelve tribes of Israel, descended from a man named Eber, his name being the root of the word "Hebrew". Eber means to cross over, transition, to go from one side to the other.

In the north of the mountain upon which the Watchers came down, a river flows which is called "Descender", that is "Yarden", or the Jordan river. The Jordan borders Israel on the East and flows into the Dead Sea. This is the river which was crossed by the Israelites who came into the land which was promised them by Elohim.

Those people of the "crossing over" (Hebrews) were chosen to pass over the "descending" (Jordan), which was itself water. In this people was kept alive the Messianic promise a Deliverer who would remove corruption from the Earth. Though fallen angels had both corrupted spirit and flesh, He would build a bridge to His redeemed so that they might cross over from corruption into Life.

Water baptism is not the end of the process though. As it is said here:

"Yahuchanan (John) spoke, saying to all, "I indeed immerse you in water. But One mightier than I is coming whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose. He will immerse you in the Sacred Spirit and fire.
His winnowing fan is in His hand and He will thoroughly clean out His threshing floor and gather the wheat into His barn. But the chaff He will burn with unquenchable fire." " Luke 3:16,17

Water baptism is an act of faith, doing so shows trust in that even though one still inhabits the corrupted world, they trust on a promise and enter into new life which is not outwardly evident yet, but is yet to be fully manifested at a future time. As Noah entered the ark with his family and passed through the flood, not to be delivered into present perfection but to trust in Elohim for a future.

Baptism of fire is the end solution. While water washes the outer surface of anything, fire purifies a thing thoroughly throughout. As water washed off the physical corruption from Earth, there yet comes a time when the whole creation will be purged entirely by fire and both corruption of physical and spiritual natures will cease to be.

"But the day of the Master will come as a thief in the night in which the skies will pass away with a great noise and the elements will melt with fervent heat. Both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner ought you to be in sacred conduct and piety, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of Yahuwah, because of which the skies will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?" - 2 Peter 3:10-12

Fire is shown to be a spiritual influence, the literal substance of spirit even.

"...Who walks on the wings of the wind, Who makes His messengers spirits, His ministers a flame of fire." - Psalm 104:4

As Earth and earthly physical influences are "watery"

"...by the word of Yahuwah the skies were of old and the earth standing out of water and in the water, by which the world then existing perished, being flooded with water" - 2 Peter 3:5,6

It is within the context of the reasons for baptism which explains why John conducted his water bapstisms in the Jordan and why Yahushua Himself was baptized there. The Jordan is a physical representation of both the source of the problem and the solution. Followers of Yahushua are also spoken of "crossing over" the Jordan in order to be healed by Him.

Yahushua is the bridge which we cross over, rescuing souls from mortality and spirits from eternal death, passing over all impurity which is to be given over to such destruction.
