4/1/23-9/1/23 RIP Strong Delusion.

The earliest known text resembling this [title] phrase occurs in Virgil's Aeneid: "facilis descensus Averno (the descent to hell is easy)".[8]  "The heart deceitful above all, and desperately wicked: who can know it?" - Jeremiah 17:9  Angels, demons, ghosts, monsters... yet the most dangerous thing in the world is still the heart of man, and all of Hell is counting on that fact.

17:10  I the LORD search the heart, try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings.

17:11  The partridge sitteth, and hatcheth not; he that getteth riches, and not by right, shall leave them in the midst of his days, and at his end shall be a fool.

17:12  A glorious high throne from the beginning the place of our sanctuary.

17:13  O LORD, the hope of Israel, all that forsake thee shall be ashamed, they that depart from me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken the LORD, the fountain of living waters.

17:14  Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou my praise.

17:15  Behold, they say unto me, Where the word of the LORD? let it come now.

17:16  As for me, I have not hastened from a pastor to follow thee: neither have I desired the woeful day; thou knowest: that which came out of my lips was before thee.

17:17  Be not a terror unto me: thou my hope in the day of evil.
...
Even if it's believed God asked us to do it,
Even if the best of intentions were fueling the fire,
Even if all the desires of the heart began to be fulfilled,
Even if that fulfillment was accompanied by "every good reason,"
Even if those reasons were confirmed by continual signs and wonders,
Even if it was believed God's help would justify the flawed means in the end,
Even if every good intention seemed to grow into an even more beautiful fruit,
Even if it all seemed to be good, and pleasant, & was desired to make one wise...
Even if literally every thing, every moment seemed to miraculously confirm every choice,
Under all 100 layers of deception will still be that one mustard-seed sized grain of Truth.
If we yield to that tiny speck of Truth, buried beneath all of those layers of the Lie,
If we deny pride and the lusts of our own hearts' desires, no matter how "good"...
If we accept that even tho every thing in our lives from the smallest to greatest,
If we accept that all of those things great and small, and our hearts, were evil,
If we accept that being emptied of hope and emptied of happiness and love,
If being emptied of all good things except that one mustard seed of Truth,
If being left alone at the bottom of that empty pit seems impossibly true,
Even if the light at the top is only the size of that tiny seed of Truth,
Under all the layers of deception and manipulation through wonders,
Under all the heartbreak and confusion, and under all loneliness,
Under all the fallout from our shattered hearts' desires,
If we earnestly seek to obey that Truth, tiny as it is,
If we deny our own desires and love that Truth,
If we earnestly call on the name of the Lord,
Even tho we failed, He will truly deliver us.
Even tho we lost, He will cause us to win.
Even tho we gave away, He will restore.
Even tho it hurts, He will heal us.
If we yield, He will give Victory.

Thank you. I'm grateful the Lord sent my friends and family to help me out of that dark place.

Exactly 5 months ago today, I sent an email. It sounds like a simple thing because it was. Lies are complicated to maintain but sin is easy to commit. Five months later, I'm grateful to be free. Life will never be the same, and I'm also grateful for that.
