Get back to the roots with Hebrew and Greek word studies of the terms in the KJV Bible.
1 Peter 2:25 "For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls."
The word 'Bishop' has so many modern connotations.. here is how we would define it in scripture..
Bishop - episkopos - 'an overseer'
ἐπίσκοπος
'episkopos' comes from 2 other Greek words - epi & skopos
'epi' means 'over'
'skopos' means 'watchman'
Yahushua is the Shepherd and Watchman over our souls.
Good word study Bean. He does watch over our souls, our lives and the spirit realm that surrounds us. I think we often forget that he is ever present. If you and I were in a room would we ignore one another? Or wouldn't we carry on a conversation. After years of being together wouldn't we know one another so well, and like an old married couple begin to "look alike". I pray I always remember my ever present Savior and look more and more like Him as the time slips by. Thanks for the study.
